How do I close out of Outlook and still receive new mail notifications?

Outlook must be running in order to get Desktop Alerts for incoming messages,
meeting requests, and task requests.

If Outlook is closed it won't receive any e-mails. Depending on your version
hiding instead of closing is an option: See the Outlook icon on the taskbar
(lower right corner), right click on it and choose "Hide if minimized" (or
similar).

You expect a program that is not running to do anything?

Thanks Michael
That is exactly what my intentions were. I gave it a try and it works fine.
Thanks for taking the time to give me a realistic solution.

Tahnya =)
