new mail notification not working

I have custom folders for certain recipients-rules that direct incoming mail
to specific folders.

When new mail arrives, Outlook does not "play a sound" like it does for the
inbox. This was working and now it doesn't.

When mail arrives in the inbox, notify works fine, the problem only occurs
with mail routed to the custom folders.

Does anyone know the answer to Keith's question? I am having the same
problem since "upgrading".
