New Mail Notification when messages are filtered to folder other than Inbox

Brian

How do I get the new mail notification to show up when I use custom
filters to move emails via rules to folders other than the Inbox?

If the message stays in the Inbox, the new mail notification works
just fine.
But the emails that get moved via rules (example: emails to
(e-mail address removed) get put in a folder named Anywho via a rule that
checks at mail arrival) do not trigger the new mail notification.

Thanks.
Brian

Next problem: It does not show the little mail envelope on my taskbar
(next to the clock) as it does with Inbox new mail. How so I go about
displaying that?

You can't. The rules engine runs before the process that displays the icon.
Something has to get left unread in the Inbox before that will show.

So another words the envelope is ONLY for the Indox.

But if I leave something unread in the inbox, that envelope will mean
nothing if I get a new message that is moved to a folder other than
the Inbox.

Apparently.

Even if you leave something unread in the Inbox, as soon as you read
ANYTHING, the envelope will be removed. The act of reading, whether it's an
unread message or not or whether it's in the Inbox or not, will turn off the
icon.
