Hello,

I am running a Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5. I
have a user running WinXP with OfficeXP. WIth Outlook
open, new mail does not show up until a previously
received email is clicked on.
Normally, with Outlook running on Exchange, new mail
appears immediately in bold and the envelope icon appears
in the task tray.
On this particular PC, new mail does not appear until a
piece of mail that is already present is clicked.
We tried sending new mail to this recipient and every
time, it would not show up until older mail was clicked.
We even tried sending mail from this person to herself
and still nothing. Clicking "Send/Receive", or pressing
F9, does not yield anything.
We also tried creating a new outlook profile and that
still did not work.
We also created a new user profile on the PC and
subsequent outlook profile and that didn't work either.

Given that we have 100 or so other users that are working
without issues, this seems related to the PC itself.

Any ideas? Thank you!!

Something is causing the machine to not receive a UDP datagram. Since you
mention Windows XP, is the built-in firewall on? If not, you can force
Outlook to poll the server and not depend on that UDP datagram. See the
following for more information.

ps - sp1 for Office XP/Outlook 2002 or newer must be applied for the
registry edit to work.
