New logitech wireless keyboard lag is IRRITATING!!!

Hi.

I just bought a new keyboard/mouse combo thing and dumped the mouse (I
really wanted the keyboard which doesn't come unbundled that I know
of)..Its one of those real nice looking new ones by Logitech.

Anyhow, I don't want to brag but I type fast- probably > 100wpm and the
keyboard lags like i'm shelled into a unix box in f'in china. (not not
that bad but it lags at least 20-30ms)...I am wondering if this is just
"the way it is" and i'll just return it. Its way too irritating to
have a lag like that and I notice that it occasionally misses
characters, etc...I have 2.4ghz running rampant in my place because
well, everything runs on it- wifi, my wireless mouse, cordless phones,
etc...i'm sure its not interference because I can take the
transmitter/receiver and stick it about 6" from the keyboard and it
still lags...

Anyone have a fix for this or isn't there one?

Thanks!

p.s. the keyboard came out of the kit with all sorts of crap including
some "media" remote control.

yes wireless keyboards do have a minor degree of lag that
might seem all the worse for someone who types fast. It's
not a matter of returning this one for another if you must
have wireless, they all do. Well, some are worse than
others, older 27Mhz spectrum types were worse than more
modern 2.4Ghz types- are you sure yours uses 2.4GHz?
Ironically enough since you have a lot of 2.4Ghz gear, you
might try a 27MHz type instead, but if you notice no
problems with the mouse or wifi dropping (in continuous
higher-bandwidth streams such as high-bitrate video
playback), the frequency probably isn't the problem.

Do you expect to type 100WPM in a scenario where you have
the keyboard in some odd/remote place where you actually
needed it wireless? I'm just wondering if you really would
encounter a problem from the lag if the keyboard isn't on
the desk anymore where a wired keyboard could reside.

I had similar trouble with my new wireless keyboard and mice. After a
couple of days plugged my old keyboard and mouse. It was irritating
and annoying.

You cant beat a traditional keyboard and mouse.

I've been using a Logitech MX700 wireless mouse for well over a year.
It is a joy compared to my wired, ball mouse. Battery charger/cradle
built in to receiver. I'll never go back to a wired mouse.

That's not a bad mouse at all but it too has a slight lag
compared to similar (MX series) wired mice. The best part
though is obviously the recharge cradle... Logitech has
their newer invisible light series that is much gentler on
batteries so the recharge cradle becomes less important, but
they don't track nearly as well as the MX700 does on most
surfaces.

Don't know where one would notice a lag, or how one would measure it.
I didn't even load the driver supplied. Just plugged it in and used it.

I bought a pair of AA rechargeable batteries to use when the Logitech
supplied batteries gave out. 15+ months later, I still haven't needed
them.

Gaming, fast movements. It's not a large lag, far far
better than prior wireless mice but when you have two good
Logitech mice side-by-side it's easier to compare.

How long do you keep the mouse off the cradle? That could
have a lot to do with it.

Hmmm...not a big gamer, but haven't noticed any lag versus an
old IBM wired mouse.

Most of the day. I put it in the cradle every night overnight
(if I remember.) It is in the cradle more than it is out of it,
but not by much.

Right, I am going to give one more try... A wireless mouse with a
recharger cradle. Any suggestions as to good keyboard and mouse. I
have seen and tried a BenQ joyboard keyboard felt really great, very
impressive. Any suggestions for a good performing keyboard and mouse
will be much appreciated.
