New Login

If running windows 2000 and computer gets sold, what is the best way to
create a new user/password and have the computer use the new profile as the
default login. Then I could delete my username login so that only the new
user is displayed in the Documents and Settings.

Another question is, very similar. To change a persons Username/password &
making the new name the default and keeping the exact data in the Documents
and Settings. I guess you could say.. I want to make a copy of my entire
profile (login and date under Documents and Settings) but use a different
Username/password.

Thanks!

Create a new user account. Logon and off. Logon as an administrator and
right-click on My Computer, choose properties, advanced, user profiles.
Select your user account, choose copy to and then browse to the folder that
holds the profile of the new user account. Choose OK. Change the permitted
to use permissions to the user account that you just created. Logoff and
logon as the new user.

That takes care of the creation. Now you need to delete your user account.
Logon as an administrator and navigate to the user profiles under the system
applet again and this time click your account and choose delete (you have to
be logged on as another user with administrative privileges).

This worked really well. I wasn't sure what you meant about.."Change the
permitted to us permissions...".

When in Admin login, I had to change the type of user to be Administrator.
This made the logon of the new user work. It was 95-98 % perfect. Just
needed a few customization to be redone.

Thanks for the help.

The permissions to use option is underneath where you do the move in the
dialog. It enables you to set the permissions on the folder.

Anyway, glad you got it sorted.
