New LAN connection with SP2

I just updated to SP2 and now when my computer starts up,
I have a LAN connection icon down by the clock. I have a
DSL internet connection that requires a "dial-in" and am
not sharing my internet connection with any other
computers. If I disconnect the LAN connection, I can't
get the internet connection to work. Is there some way
to join these 2 connections so I don't have 2 network
connections running all the time? Thanks. Hopefully
this makes sense to someone out there.

Kevin- I had the same problem, and called my ISP. They
said that I always had the LAN connection in my Network
Connections box, but that SP2 now tells me that it's not
connecting which is an added security feature for some
users.
To remeove icon from tray, rt click icon; select Open
Network Connections; Rt Click Local Area Connections icon,
Select Properties; de-select both "Show icon..."
and "Notify me..." boxes, and the icon will disappear from
your tray.
