Just got a new I-Phone and it won't synk with outlook 2002 (XP office prof
sp2). Tech says I need 2003 or better. Also have Ipaq (Active Sync v 4.1)
that I use for contacts/calender and noted all the problems with 2007. Which
version should I download? I have capapability for 2007 but am concerned Ipaq
won't work with this version. Should I just go with 2003?
Thanks for help.
Debbie

Which version should I download?
You mean buy? I'd go for Outlook 2007. Is there any specific issue you are
concerned with? This is a troubleshooting newsgroup so you'll always find
people discussing issues here. People tend not to go to troubleshooting
newsgroups to tell they don't have any issues ;-)

You can download ActiveSync 4.5 which works with Outlook 2007.

Thanks for quick reply, trying to avoid problems like Paul from 3/07 posting.
I have very limited abilities to work out problems so just making sure I'm
not overstepping if I progress. Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum.

Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum;
No, you came to the right forum to discuss this. I was just pointing out
that you shouldn't be put off by Outlook 2007 from all the issues you read
here ;-)

No problem, you came to the right place. Feel free to post if you have any
more questions or run into any issues :-)

OK, I've downloaded a 60 day trial of office standered 2007 which is supposed
to have outlook 2007 on it. When I try to open it I get the old 2002
outlook. The other components are there, just not outlook. What now?

For the trial version you first need to install any previous version of
Outlook first since only 1 version of Outlook can be installed.

So, if I buy 2007 will it automatically change my 2002 version to 2007 or do
I need to buy 2003 first? All I really need is 2003 so I can sync up my
iPhone.Thanks

You can directly upgrade to Outlook 2007 from Outlook 2002. You don't need
Outlook 2003.

Purchased Microsoft Office Standard 2007, converted files, have all new
programs but not outlook. Still have old outlook (2002). I don't use
outlook for e-mails but do for calendar and contacts to sync with iPhone and
iPaq. Don't want to loose any of my information. What do I need to do to
keep info and access 2007 version?

REmove the older version from Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs. Then do a custom installation of only Outlook from your STandard suite.

1. How do I back up my current files so I won't loose information? Do I need

2. How do I do a custom install if I purchased outlook on line and
downloaded it online?

..1. You never lose data when uninstalling an Office program, however to be safe, you can backup your .pst file - http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm

2. I hope you burned your download to a CD! If you did not, then you can use Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Microsoft Office->Change and select to add Outlook from there.

3. Burn your download to a CD and make a label with the product key to affix to that CD case - then store it in a safe place (no dogs or children!)
