New IE windows not loading

I was having a problem with IE 6 - XP SP2 with new windows not loading urls.
After some digging this was what fixed the problem:

-- Copied from http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm ---

If nothing happens when you click a link:

Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the
double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.
--- End Exerp ---

Hope this helps someone out that is having the same problem.

Hi Jason

I am having the same problem. I followed your instructions but received the
following error message: "The specified program could not be found. Make sure
the file name and path are correct."

Did you say "Applications used to perform action should read:
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplorer.exe" -nohome

1) DDE Message:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
2) Application:
IExplore
3) This should stay blank
4) WWW_OpenURL

How can I tell if the file name and path listed above exists on my C drive?
What if it doesn't? I know you're not an expert but I will appreciate any
help you can provide. And if there are any experts out there, I will
appreciate your help.

Thanks
Greg

Greg,

To see where you iexplore.exe lives click on Start->Search and then search
for the file name. This would be the fastest way to locate it. By default
the location that is documented is where the program would be at.

As far at the settings, I had to decrypt it as well. The way you outlined
it is the way I cut and pasted it into the file settings.

Hope this helps

It would perhaps work better if you typed the command line the way John said
instead of changing it to iexplorer.exe
