New HD

Hi, if I buy a bigger hd, how can I transfer the old to the new one without
formating and reinstaling from zero? Do u know / suggest any utilities?

Usually the hd manu has a free utility on their site, generally they work OK
providing you follow the instructions, though there are some that have
problems if they have MS Office installed.
Otherwise a paid for utility would be eg True Image, there are others

Use the clone software and instructions that come with the new drive.

By far the best software that I've used is Acronis TrueImage (Acronis Disk
Administrator may also be of use).
The software is easy to use but the process can be bit tricky. This product
will let you clone your existing drive to the new drive. Or you can create
an image of the old drive, then restore it to the new drive.

You should get that utility and the instructions with your new HD.

I'm pretty sure Seagate has it.
