I recently replaced my computer with everything new except the harddrive.

I reinstalled WindowsXP Pro and am now functioning somewhat. I cannot
access my CDRom to install drivers for the motherboard.

When I check through the Device Manager, it says that it is connected and
everything is fine. However, I cannot access the CDRom through Windows
Explorer.

I have a single account on this system with adminstrative rights.

What can I do to see this drive through Explorer???

TIA

Thanks Patti,

That did it!! I also liked the little fix to prevent accidental registry
mods by clicking on a *.reg file.

Thanks again for quick and very helpful response.

Hi Again Patti.

I spoke too soon. On the other computer I can now see the CDRom drive.
That is when I came back and responded that it worked.

Now I went back to access the drive and when I open up Explorer, go to My
Computer and click on the CDRom to open it, it does not open, but the screen
starts to refresh about 2-4 times a second. It never gets around to opening
the CD, just sits and refreshes the entire screen (including the desktop)
until I close the explorer window.
