New Hardware Wizard.

Hi. Since I installed XP, a small screen headed "Found New Hardware
Wizard" appears over my desktop every time I boot-up, together with a
similarly headed little pop-up. My printer is mentioned, although it is
installed and working. I get fed-up deleting them and would like to
know if there is any way of getting rid of them, please.?
Cheers, Alpha.

What happens if you let it continue the install? More data needed.

See "The New Hardware Wizard may detect the printer device after every
restart of the computer" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298370/en-us

The sequence of screens ends with the message "The hardware was not
installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software."
Presumably, it is looking for the installation disc, which I haven't got. ?
As I've mentioned, the printer is installed and working.

Thanks for the link Lem,which seems to be spot-on the issue. I tried
removing the "damaged" registry key but got "Cannot delete LPTENUM. Error
while deleting key." I can't try the Workaround, because I haven't got an
installation disc.

Look at the ownership and permissions for that key and give yourself
permission to delete it. Click on the key, then on Edit | Permissions.
