new hardware want install

xp keeps asking me to install software for new hardware that it should install on its own, for example dv cameras, i tried the camera on my friends computer and it istalled drivers automaticly, so iam a bit confused any help would be great.
 
You should install the drivers that came with the camera, THEN attach the
camera.
