My generosity overwhelms me sometimes. Please go to the New Download
section of
www.mcse2000.com for a FREE app that will print out the backup
log of NTBACKUP automatically without a user logged into the server!!! Easy
to use! This works on 2003 and XP, a version for 2000 will be out in 24
hours after testing.
This app will save your BUTT!!!! Keep accountability and know if your jobs
are running. Sets up in a minute! Previously this was only possible with
$500 Backup Exec.
I've installed this, it's printing a log, but not the most recent log,
and its not running at the correct time.
Time of run: Looking in C:\ntbackup the file loglist.txt is time stamped
00:40. Looking at the log for the latest backup, it completely finished
at 02:18. On closer inspection I see that the verify phase started at
00:40 - I want the print after the verify has completed to know if all
is OK.
Not printing correct log: The contents of the loglist.txt is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup01.log
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup02.log
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup03.log
C:\Documents and Settings\SBS Backup User\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup01.log
C:\Documents and Settings\SBS Backup User\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup02.log
C:\Documents and Settings\SBS Backup User\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup03.log
C:\Documents and Settings\SBS Backup User\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup04.log
C:\Documents and Settings\SBS Backup User\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup05.log
C:\Documents and Settings\SBS Backup User\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup06.log
C:\Documents and Settings\SBS Backup User\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup07.log
C:\Documents and Settings\SBS Backup User\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup08.log
C:\Documents and Settings\SBS Backup User\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup09.log
The actual log file printed is the first backup03.log, not backup09.log.
However neither of these is the full log file as it is looking in
Documents and Settings for the log file, when (in SBS 2003 at least) the
full log files are in Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Support\Backup Logs.
Can all these problems be sorted out or do I need to look at some other
way of getting the log files printed?
