new form isn't visible in the Printing Preferences

O

Oltmans

Hi all,

I've installed HP LaserJet 1000 on Windows Vista Home Premium (which
runs on a Dell notebook). I've to add two custom print sizes 1)- 9x3
2)- 3x9. So in order to do that I went to Start >> Settings >>
Printers >> Right click >> Server Properties and I added and saved
these two forms
However, when I go to Start >> Settings >> Printers >> Right click on
'hp laserjet 1000' >> Click 'Printing Preferences' >> then I select
the "Paper" tab from the top >> within the "Paper" tab there is this
drop-down besides "Size is" >> I click on this drop-down but I don't
see sizes that I just defined as new forms.

So my problem is that I want to print using custom sizes i.e. a)-9x3
and b)- 3x9 using 'hp laserjet 1000' on vista premium home. How do I
go about that?

Please help me. I've lost enough hair and I've thoroughly searched
internet but nothing worked. I will appreciate all the help.

I don't see that the Laser 1000 driver was included in Vista so I can't look
at the GPD

The Custom_size field in the text based GPD for the printer will filter
forms outside the range defined in this file.

Look in \system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3 for the GPD of this device and
open the file in notepad to view the allowed dimensions for the printer.

If the GPD name is not obvious open the .inf file in the location you have
the print drivers copied for installation to view the GPD name.
