The movie "See how it works" on their website is very funny. However, I
don't know how blue security works with positive falses, i.e. legit
emails declared spam that I regularly get. Very often it's some
newsletters I am subscribed to and which change the sender so they are
not on my white list.

So, I prefer to manually treat the rest that passes and not oblige the
people that send me email to pass through that filter.

But maybe others on the list will disagree and like this extension

nonsense...99% of spam is configured so it can't be bounced or replied
to. It comes thru blinds & proxies and with faked return addresses
etc...It is 'possible' to figure out place of origin if done by
experts and with a lot of trouble, but is not usually worth the
effort.

You need a spam parser like this French one, http://www.spam-rbl.com/
that finds the originating address.

I am getting a wave of phishing attacks these days (paypal in general)
and often send them to the spam parser that automatically sends a complaint.

If I manually send complaints I rarely get an answer so I dont know what
happens after my complaint.

You mean for every spam you get you send one to the luckless sod whose
email address was forged by the spammer? So you have now become part of
the problem :-(

Never EVER reply to spam.

If it's the real address of the spammer, you told them your address is
real and read and they can resell your address for more money. If it's
not their real address you have just opened up with harmful friendly fire
on someone else. So cut it out.

Agreed.

I use spamcop (spamcop.net) to parse & report.

no dude... i dont send the mail myself - i send it to blue-security and
they find the origin or analyze the mail somehow and then they send an
opt-out request!! i would never send mail myself to a spammer!! nor
would I spam others...

but thanks for all the feedbacks!!

It's important to understand what these guys are doing - they analyze
your spam and report it to law enforcement agencies, anti-spam groups
and others places (like the spam site ISP and hosting provider).
On top of that, their Blue Frog software automatically visits the sites
advertised in the spam messages you receive and posts a complaint
demanding the spammer to stop spamming the communtiy.

The system is very well thought of (easy and safe to use) and results
are encouraging - I now receive less than half of the spam I used to
get 3 months ago.

see http://members.bluesecurity.com for statistics.

I think you didnt get the point...they (Bluesecurity) check the mail I
send them and then decide after analyzing, who to send the opt-out
request :)

"Blue frog posts opt-out requests only about spam messages you
received and reported to Blue Security."

Sounds as though they request "opt-out" from the spammers. The chances
of them doing that are about 0.0000000000001%

Telling spammers you got their email okay is NOT a good idea.

Regards, John.
