New DVD Writer problem

Installed a new Sony DRU-820-A DVD +- writer.

When attempting to use Nero to backup files, Nero does 'not' see
this as a DVD, but only as a 'CD writer.

Did set it as a 'Slave' as already have a plain DVD player in the machine.

Anyone assist these very old and drybones in getting Nero to do what
is proper?

Damn, I meant to say 'Drive Image and Nero.
