new disk and old disk not recognized in expolrer

had 2 disks on xp, 120 master 40 secondary master. wanted
to add 160 additional. put the 160 on the 40 cable and now
the 40 is not seen by explorer when back to original
config.... Its seen by disk admin but I cant make the data
on it accessable again....

When you put the 160GB on the cable with the 40GB, did you make sure of
three things..

1) The jumper settings for the configuration was correct on the hard drives
themselves.
2) The BIOS sees both hard disk drives.
3) The BIOS itself would support the 160GB hard drive size.
 
Did you assign it a drive letter?

Right click on My Computer, select Manage, click on Disk Management. Drives
should appear on the right hand of the screen. What does it say about the
160gb drive? Is it partitioned and formatted? No version of Windows can
'see' an unformatted drive.
