What I did:
- Copy PST file to target dir
- Added new PST file to outlook
- set new PST to default
- removed reference to orignal (OL's default) PST file
- ok, things mostly work

Problem:
- Shortcuts point to old, absent PST file
- toolbar shortcuts OK -- just removed the old one's and dragged in new ones
- Keyboard shortcuts (CTRL-SHIFT+I, ALT-V+G+O, etc.) still point to old
PST and are broken
- Address book options still only shows old, absent file -- doesn't show new
PST file's contacts, so address book broken

How do I update the shortcuts and address book to realizefi there's a new
PST file in town??
(I've done this before and don't remember having this particular problem -
must have done something in a different order...)
Any help appreciated...

thanks,
mike

You can change the address book display name for a contacts folder on the Properties dialog for the folder. That might help you tell them apart.

Haven't gotten around to installing the latest...
I'm on 2002 SP1.

Turns out restarting OL again fixed the keyboard shortcut issue, but I still
can't convince the address book to point to the new contacts and reconcile
addresses using it. Went to Tools!AddressBook!Tools!Options and removed the
existing one and added my new one (though the title it presents seems like
the old one) and added new Contacts from there with no luck.

thanks,
mike

The DL should be sent as an Outlook item in an RTF message.
Once it is, double click it to open it and hit Save.

Still have the same issues...
Outlook version?

See below.

Also, if someone sends me a distribution list object as an attachment, how
do I import it into my address book??

thanks,
mike

Okay, "Show this folder as an email address book" on the contact properties
did the trick.
I saw this item before, but passed it by -- talk about bad app strings --
this has nothing to do with how the folder is "shown" at all. (How about
"Link the address book to contacts in this folder" or "Use this folder when
resolving email addresses" or something descriptive...)
Still wondering about the distro list though...

thanks

If sent by the method I specified, it will be saved to your default Contacts
Folder.

Well, that was my first thought...
I clicked on SaveAndClose, and the distro alias doesn't resolve or show up
in the address book or contacts folder. Where is it supposed to be going?

thanks
