New Contact defaults as private

Every time I create a new contact, it defaults to
private. While I am creating it, the box is not
checked...Once I save it and reopen it, the box is
checked. This is a big pain in my ... because we use Net
Folders and it wont share any private contacts. Any way
to set turn that default off?

how do you add a contact without it defaulting to private. how do you De-private contacts that are ialready in your folder
