'New Connection' doesn't create

Tim Elston

Hello.

When I attempt to create a new connection in Windows XP
Pro on my desktop, using the 'Create a new connection'
command on the taskbar in 'Network Connections', after
I've gone through the wizard process no new connection
appears. I have two D-Link Ethernet modems installed,
both of which are working properly and recognized by the
system. One of the modems provides my DSL connection to
the Internet. The other one is not being used and is the
one I am trying to create a new connection with. It is
physically connected to my new eMachine Notebook's
ethernet modem with the right kind of cable (I know it's
the right kind). The eMachine Notebook is running
Windows XP Home, and it creates a 'new connection' when I
run the 'Create a new connection' command, even when I
don't have the cable plugged into the modem. My question
is: Why won't XP Pro on my desktop create a new
connection when I run the 'Create a new connection'
command?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Tim
