New Computrers with Local User rights only...

Hi,

I work for a company that had all their users as domain admins. The past
view years I have removed their domain admin rights and just made them local
admin. on workstations.

We had an app which noone could figure out how to make it work with normal
user rights. This was the original reason everyone was a domain admin.

So, my issue now it, I have just rolled out new Windows XP workstations and
users are just local users the way it should be. However, when I have
devices like scanners or cameras, or burners even if I install the software
as an admin they still can't run it. Some typical errors I get are failed
to update registry or the program just doesn't start or error after you dbl
click it.

Mosat programs I can get to work by giving the local user group access to
the registry key it needs. Or I give the local user rights to the install
folder of the app with all the dll or ocx files in it.

However, I still have some issues. How do I make apps worj if the above
didn't work. My main issue is with scanners.

I appreciate your help! Trying to get this running like it should be!

When you 'start-up' you are loggin onto the Server as a 'local user'.

Thus on the XP desktop, they are not an admin user and can't install hardware / software.

To do this one should logon to the local machine as an administrator or user with administrator rights.
