I am looking to buy a new computer and have been looking
at EMachine & Compaq with AMD athlon xp2800t. I really
would like some feedback on these. Are they quality
products or not? Help please! Thank you for your input!!

Hello
I don't think there is a nickles worth of differance
between any of them
got family that has EMachine and they work great
I had a Compaq 5000 once and had a lot of trouble but
that was before HP bought them
I have all HP's (5) and have had good luck and prefer the
Athlon got one with Pentium 3, have been told the new
Pentium 4 runs hotter then the rest but can not offer any
proof of it.
I do recommend that what ever you get, put a second
harddrive in it, then you can move any important files
that you want in case the harddrive craps out it has
happened and will leave you scratching your head.
Hope this helps

Buy a Dell, some are about $500. Dell has better support,
supplies proper media to reinstall if you have a problem and
eMachine and Compaq (or HP) don't.

Greetings --

AMD CPUs are fine, but Compaq uses very proprietary hardware
configurations that could make any future upgrades difficult.
Additionally, Compaq's consumer-grade Presario (just like HP's
Pavilion series) product line is generally comprised of models
assembled from the lowest possible quality components that Compaq can
make work. Expect frequent problems. Even more importantly, Compaq
won't provide you with an installation CD for WinXP, so, should
anything go wrong, you'll have no option but to wipe out the hard
drive and reinstall everything from scratch. Repairing or customizing
the OS won't be an option. This could also easily lead to the loss of
all of your data.

I've no personal experience with EMachine products (in fact, I've
never even seen one), but I've also never seen anyone post anything
good about them.

If you must buy a factory-built PC with OEM software, go with a
more reputable vendor; one who cares about providing a quality product
and a modicum of customer service. Dell, MPC (formerly MicronPC), or
Gateway would be better choices. You may have to pay a bit more, but
it'd be worth it.
