In our office we have 2 desktops and 1 laptop all running XP professional and all connected using a simple home network. We added a new desktop. Connected it to the network and ran the 'Set up a home network ...' wizard. We ensured the new pc had a different name and had the same workgroup name as the others. But after the wizard completes the new pc cannot see any of the others. In fact if we click on 'View workgroup computers' we get a message that we do not have permissions etc ... we don't even see the new pc itself.
The new pc has a Ethernet and 1394 connection so the wozard tries to bridge them. So I removed the Ethernet connection from the bridge and disabled the 1394. But still the same problem.
At one point it all started working. Then it stopped again. I've seen this problem once nefore and that pc had a 1394 connection as well. But the problem just went away on that one and I don't know why.
Any ideas what I can try?
