New build I/o error

I have just finished a new build of Asus Striker Extreme, Q6600, 2GB Corsair
DDR2-800 RAM and HD2900XT vga card. I tried installing XP SP3 but I just
couldnt get it to work with audio (HDA bus error) or anything so after
multiple attempts I went to Vista 32bit Home Premium but alas I keep getting
it to freeze and occasinally I get an I/O Error of 0xc0000185 but googling
it returns to results.
Is this faulty ram, faulty voltage settings (default, I havent even bothered
overclocking it) and an installation failure. Would Vista64 be any more
secure. It was on my old system.

Thanks

Robin

First off , XP sp3 is not official yet...so it would be better to wait until
it comes off of testing...

However, it does not look like that was your problem

for starters , you should run the harddrive mfg's diagnostic

plus run a RAM test.

additionally...if all tests OK

try *underclocking* your RAM

I've seen some RAM that just plain does not quite work at it's specified
