New bie Question about upgarding my machine & DDR /SDRAM pins

Suma

I have a low end desktop whose specs read -
128MB DDR
Memory :
Support for 200/266 MHz memory bus
Two DIMM slots for 168-pin SDRAM memory module

Arent 184-pin-DIMMs, used for DDR SDRAMS? I am confused- If i get a
DDR module can I put it in the 168-pin slot ? Or should I look for the
older SDRAMS?
Please let me know

Both are SDRAMs, 184-pin DDR SDRAM and 168-pin SDR SDRAM

Thank you - But I am aware both are SDRAMS - however given that the
spec says 168-pin SDRAM can i get say PC3200 DDR mem - Is this backward
compatible?
In otherwords if i get a 184-pin DDR can I use it in the 168 pin slot?

As David says, no, tey are not the same 168-pin SDRAM is always
SingleDataRate. 184-pin is always DoubleDataRate...
Totally incompatible..

Have a look at the RAM module and see what it says, or download cpu-z
and see what it says, or Everest will also ID your hardware.
Mike.
