New 9800 Pro coming soon......

Hi there, been using nVidia for years, now have a new 9800 Pro coming from
Newegg this week.

Excuse the newbie question, but what's the best way to make sure I don't
have any driver issues in Win XP going from nVidia to ATI.

Will un-installing the nVidia drivers thru the control panel, and then
shutting down and changing cards do the trick well enuff? Or should I
change completely to VGA mode, and scrub the system of all nVidia files as
I've seen some folks recommend before installing the ATI card?

Thanx

Uninstall nvidia drivers, shutdown change your card and reboot in "safe
mode", use something like : http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/ to clean
any left overs from previous drivers, install a generic PCI vid card and
reboot. Install latest ATI drivers.

Thats what I did and it worked.

Hi
I did the same thing as Stephan did. The drive cleaner works great, and I
love my 9800 pro.

I don't see any advantage to installing a PCI card in between. Once you
uninstall the Nvidia drivers, just swap in the new ATI card.

You'll reboot in VGA, 640x480 8-bit color. When Windows asks if you want to
install new drivers, say no. Then run the ATI driver executeable. Reboot,
and add the ATI control panel. You should be good to go.
