Virustotal offers a free service for scanning suspicious files using
several antivirus engines. Test your suspicious file (not zipped) here
and see what results you get. Symantec is one of the engines. http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
Virus defs are 2/May/05 latest version.
None of these will pick it up including my 2004 Home edition. The virus
exists with an atachment size of 46Kb. It is active.
If you are using the scanning option "Scan files using Smartscan",
review all of your extension listings. Whatever the extension was on the
MYTOB.V file, make sure it's in your list. I say that because the Swen
Worm has the extension of ATT which is not included in the list when you
get the AV program. You have to add it.
Mytob.V comes with extention .zip, .pif, .scr. There was obviously a flaw in
their definitions but did it ever take some effort to get them to wake up.
