never send a read receipt response

I would like to stop outlook from automatically sending a read receipt when
one is requested, however the option in tools> options> email options>
tracking options, is greyed out and I cannot change this to never send a
response. Does anyone know what needs to be done to be able to alter this?

I am using Outlook 2000 on my PC with an exchange server mailbox.

If it's greyed out then it has been set as a company policy and therefore
you cannot change it. You should ask your manager what procedure you must
follow if you want to change company policies.
