I usually find that the firewalls on PC's are my worst offender. Do
you have them turned off on both?
Obviously if not, then do. Then turn on one at a time till you find
out which is doing it and somehow adjust the firewall.
I've got 2 XP and 1 MCE machine and other than having to add file and
print sharing to the machines they work right out of the box. I do
make a "share" folder and share it for read/write too. But that's just
me.
And by fix firewall, I add an entry to tell the firewall that any device
in the 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.255 range is allowed traffic (my
internal IP network range). PS. I'm not using windows firewall so I'm
not sure how its done in XP.

I'm using Kaspersky on both ( windows firewall is off). I'll look to see
how to write the device ranges in Kaspersky..

You were right AL, Kaspersky is the problem on xphome, I have not figured
out where to fix this in the new 8.0.0.5 version though
