Hi!! I am trying to figure if networking mainly file sharing is possible with
two different OS. Right now I have a laptop running windows vista basic, I
have two desktops both running Windows XP Home Editions. The two desktops
are able to connect to each others and are able to file share, however I
cannot file share with my laptop running vista. Please help.

A computer running Windows Vista is quite capable of sharing files with a
computer running Windows XP. There will be challenges though.

Remember the limitations of Windows XP Home. Windows Vista won't have those
limitations, but if you want predictable file sharing ability, you'll disable
Password Protected Sharing on the Vista computer. And enable the Guest account
for network file sharing. And be sure that all computers are in the same
workgroup.
