John M.

I have a desktop and a laptop both running XP pro. I
want the desktop to be able to access the laptop's shared
files. What's the easiest way to do this? My aim is not
really mess with the connection settings on my laptop too
much since its for work. I've heard of connecting the
computers directly to each other via a Cat5 crossover
cable? Any suggestions...let me know thanks.

a crossover cable would be the simplest way. Just make
sure there are no firwalls active, or configure them to
allow lan traffic through.you will also need to set both
machines with addresses on the same subnet. You may also
need to set an identical user account/password on both
machines
