I've connected my PC to a Mac G5 using a wired router. I can see the hard
drive icons from the PC on the Mac screen, but cannot find the Mac icon on
the PC screen. I have worked in My network places and the Mac icon is not
there either.

I have of course set up the proper file sharing protocols on both machines

The computers are linked with the internet. Any both connections work fine.
I can Look at PC files on the Mac, but because its not recognized on the
PC, I cannot alter the files.

Any help would be appreciaed.

When you say you have set up "proper file sharing protocols", does that
mean you are running Samba on the Mac? If you aren't, then you need to.
If you are already running Samba, then check for misconfigured
firewalls. XP SP2 enables the Windows Firewall. Make sure you've
enabled file and printer sharing on the Exceptions tab. If you are
running a third-party firewall, make sure the Windows Firewall (if you
have SP2) is disabled and the third-party firewall allows the lan
connection as trusted.

Also, in case you haven't done this, create identical user accounts and
passwords on both machines.
