Can you tell me the easiest way to network one pc that has
windows 2000 and one pc that is windows xp.
What kind of cable do I need to connect the 2 pc's?

If you have ethernet network cards in both machines, you will need an
ethernet crossover cable. Or two "regular" ethernet cables and a hub.
