I have two machines using a linksys router, both machines can connect to the
internet, no problem. Both machines work well, however, I cannot get the
network neighborhood to see the other machine. Both are on the same
workgroup, with different computer names. I have tried just the TCP/IP
protocol, and I don't even see the machine I am working on in te network
neighborhood. When I turn on the NWLink protocol, I see the machine I am
working on, but not the other. I have shared folders as well to see if I can
see those. I have even done a search for the other computer, but to no avail.
Both systems have NWLink protocol installed, as well as TCP/IP and sharing. I
have done this on other computers, with success, but these two seem to have a
problem. Is there a service which may be arguing with each other on each
machine? Should I stop one (I am not sure which) service on one of the
computers to be able to get the networking going? Both machines, WinxpHome
and Pro are completely up to date with service packs... Linksys router has no
denial of LAN services enabled. Any suggestions? Any services that should be
shut off ?
I thank you in advance.
