Networking XP Hoem and Windos 2000

Does Windows XP Home Edition support peer to peer
networking with Windows 2000? I tried the network wizard
in XP and it had me create a disk to load on the second
computer, but the disk created only supports 95, 98 and
ME. I checked with our local PC Specialist who had tried
connecting XP and 2000 and he said he never succeeded.
What do I have to do?

Greetings SPA,

All versions of Windows can be networked. The Network Wizard doesn't work on
computers running Windows 2000. You must configure those options manually.

Eric's right, SPA, and I'll add some details.

Configure the Windows 2000 TCP/IP settings to obtain an IP address
automatically. Set the workgroup name to the same name that the other
computers use (probably MSHOME). That should do it!

Is that really ALL a win 2k computer should need to do to be able to network? I ran network setup wizard on my reinstall of windows xp pro yesterday and my pal plugged his win2k laptop into my hub. when he tried to access my shared folder, it prompted him for a username & password -- that had never, ever happened before. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out what setting on my computer is not the same as it used to be.

That's all that should be necessary with XP Home Edition, except in us
usual circumstances. If you had XP Professional, the story would be
different.

Run the Network Setup Wizard again on XP Home and see if that fixes
things.

If not, follow these steps:

1. If you've explicitly disabled network access by the Guest account,
enable it by entering this command in the Start | Run box:

net user guest /active:yes

2. If you've explicitly defined a password for the Guest account,
enter that password at the prompt.

Ok I am totaly confused here

All we have to do is make sure they are in the same workgroup? This does not fix this problem that I see. I can see my XP Pro computer in my network places on my Windows 2000 Pro computer but I am unable to access the XP computer

Windows XP can not find computers in the workgroup except for itself
