I have just added a 3rd computer to my home network and it is doing my head
in!

1. All 3 computers are XP
2. All 3 computers can access the ICS
3. All 3 computers can ping each other using the command prompt
4. No firewalls are set up on any connectioin.
5. The 3rd computer cannot access the workgroup.(Error: Unable to access
workgroup permissions may be wrong)
6. Computers 1 and 2 can see the 3rd on the network but cannot access it
(Error unable to find path)

Any ideas??

Tks in advance

1) How are the 3 computers interconnected?
2) Which computer runs ICS?
3) Are all 3 computers on the same workgroup?
4) Are all 3 XPs XP Home?
5) Are you using the same userid / password on all 3 computers?

1) The computers are connected through a hub/adsl router. I don't use the
router just the hub.
2) Computer 1 runs ICS.
3) All 3 are on the same workgroup
4) 2 xp home, 1 xp pro
5) No userid/passwords on any pooter.

IP's all configured manually. When I put my laptop onto the network no
issues there. Just the new computer I added today won't connect.

P.S. How do I configure userid/passwords?

Start - Settings - Control Panel - User Accounts. Generally, to
access the shares on one computer from another, the shared computer
has to have a user account defined on it with a password identical to
the user account / password active on the sharing computer.

Did you maybe disable the Guest account on one (you should disable
Guest on everything to be secure, but lets try to get everything
working first).

What you're saying is computers 1 & 2 are OK, computer 3 can't access
of be accessed by either 1 or 2?

Which is XP Pro? #3 by any chance?

I managed to sort out the problem. And now I feel a bit silly for not
spotting it earlier. PC-Cillen 2002 which is installed on PC 3 has got a
personal firewall which was activated. A simple elimination of a little tick
and the big problem went away. Thanks for your help anyway, much
appreciated.
