Have set up a windows network using winxp home pc as the server with 11
workstations connecting to this server all xphome. We are have a problem that
when we login all 11 pc's it tells us that the maximun number of workstations
has been exceeded, is there a way of bypassing this or increasing number of
workstations without having to install winxp pro

No. Home only allows FIVE concurrent connections. In fact, Pro only allows
TEN concurrent connections, so you'd still be stuffed with XP Pro. You need
a server operating system.

There is no way you can make this work. In fact, with 11 workstations
you will also run into the concurrent connections limit with XP Pro.
The limit is for *connections*, not *computers*; a computer can make
more than one connection to a server. You need a real server operating
system on the "server" computer or - depending on what you are doing on
the "server" machine - install Linux on it.

XP

concurrent connections:

10 for XP Pro/Tablet/MCE
5 for XP Home
49 for SBS 2000
74 for SBS 2003
Unlimited for full Server O/Ses
