I just purchased this new PC with windows XP - media version. Very cool and
everything runs great. I have a cable modem with a wired linksys BEFSR41
router. I have 3 other computers on the router running windows 2000. All
computers have internet cabability through the Linksy router. I've tried to
share the printer now connected to this new PC and other folders without any
luck.
I used the network wizard but the executable file for use on other computers
does not run on WIN2000.
Under entire network>Microsoft Windows Network I see the newly created
'HOME' workgroup name that I created from the wizard. I get an error - "home
is not accessible. ...the list of servers for this workgroup is not currently
available".
Please help!

Sharing between Win2K and XP is seriously flawed. It seems that the SMB
implementation in XP is at fault. The XP box can mount Win2K shared (and
also Samba shares) but not the other way round

I forgot to add that all computers are pingable.
Did you create identical user accounts and passwords on the XP box to
match the ones on the Win2k boxen? You need to. Also, make sure the
Workgroup matches on all computers (HOME) isn't the default Workgroup
on XP. Here are some links to help you with networking:

You didn't say what the printer is, but if it is an HP they have a
little program called something like "Network Printer Installer" which
is quite useful.

Funny, all the boxen on my network can share files - Win95, Win98,
Win2k, WinXP, and SuSE 9.1.
