Networking with vista and xp

Sorry this may seem like a dead subject, but ive been dredging through the
forum and havent found anything.

I've just set up a cable internet network with my vista (ultimate) pc as the
host pc, and i cant get the other xp computers in the network anywhere near
it, under network connections the LAN shows "limited or no connectivity" so
I'm thoroughly stuck. Any help will be gratefully accepted

Many possible causes. Do you receive 169.254.x.x. IP address? Check these
