Are there any known problems with running XP Home as a
server?

A user is running a SQL-based application, and when more
than 3 workstations (Windows 98, SE) try to connect to the
machine running Windows XP Home, the application bombs
out. The XP Home machine houses the SQL Server, and thus
the data as well.

What could be the cause of this?

Hi, Joash -

Windows XP Home has a limit of five incoming connections -
maybe this is the reason your application isn't working
correctly. If you need more connections it would
probably be a good idea to upgrade to XP Professional -
which has a limit of ten connections, or to a server OS
like Windows Server 2003.

Hope this helps -

That helps a great deal, Allan!

Thank you so much for your help, it's much appreciated!

Joash
