i have a windows w2k laptop that i use to connect at work to a w2k domain for daily work. i am trying to also network it with my xp desktop at home to be able to share printer and interchange files. i can see the laptop shared files from the desktop. from the laptop i see the xp desktop in "my network places" but when i click on it i get an error saying "there are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request" and i cannot get into the desktop's shared folders. Is there a way to solve this without changing the domain on my laptop. i changed the domain to a workgroup once and it took me forever to reconnect to the domain at work. not to mention the anger of my it support person.

You should discuss this requirement with your support person. He/she knows
exactly your current setup and he/she will be able to implement a solution
that is compatible both with your physical configuration and with your
company policy. It appears that you rocked the boat once before - no need to
do it again!

Hi,

You should try this:

Go to Start \ Run \ type \\desktop_name\share_name or \\desktop_name\C$
What error to you get now, if you get any..

Hi Rod,

Have you tried mapping share with a different username. When you type
username, you must type it like: Computer_Name\UserName -- and then
password.
Do you have the same ip and dns settings at home and at job?
