Recently installed Wanadoo's Livebox as a residential gateway for 2 PCs, both
running XP - one connected to the Livebox by Ethernet cable, the other by a
wireless adaptor. Both machines run fine, each connect to the internet OK,
but I've had no luck in networking the 2 of them together - I'm just trying
to share files between the 2 machines. Ran Network Setup Wizard, but after
clicking on the workgroup within My Network Places, error message tells me
that "unable to access the workgroup, maybe due to not having access
permissions to this network resource". Anyone had any experience trying to
network via a Livebox, or got any suggestions as to how to progress please ?

Robin,

One of the most common causes of problems like this would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

For more immediate help, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):
