Networking two computers

Jaime

Can anyone tell me where to start so I can network two
computers here at my home together? One computer is
running Windows 98 and one is running Windows XP. I don't
have any idea where to start and what I need.

Thanks!

First, get a crossover RJ45 cable. Crossover cable is the same RJ45 cable
with the internal wires aligned for a
peer-peer communication(without a hub).

For purchase:
http://www.cat-5-cable-company.com/cat-5-crossover-cable.shtml

Connect the cables to the computers. Next run the network wizrd. To network
the computers, run Network Setup Wizard. To start the Network Setup Wizard,
click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.
Under Common Tasks, click Network Setup Wizard.

Run the Wizard (netsetup.exe) in the 98 computer also. It will automatically
create
file, internet sharing etc. To access the files from one computer to
another, use the \\IP Address at the run command.

To access ComputerA, click start | run | "\\computerA" or \\IPAddress
