Maggie, if you try to follow Carey's Tip #1 on the XP computer, you'll
find that, with a single exception, the settings that it describes
don't exist.
What connection option did you specify to the Wizard? Some options
cause it to turn on a firewall that blocks file and printer sharing.
How are the computers connected to each other? Through a hub? A
switch? A router? Something else?
What IP address does each computer have? On XP, right click the
network connection and click Status | Support. On 98, click Start |
Run, type "winipcfg" in the box, click OK, and select the network
adapter from the menu.
Knowing the answers to those questions, we can give you specific
information on how to solve the problem, rather than a long list of
complicated steps that don't address any specific problem and contain
many un-necessary instructions.
