Networking problems

We have five computers on our network. Three are Windows
XP Professional and two are Windows 2000 Professional.
All computers can see each other on the network and all
can access the Win 2K machines and the Manager (gateway
Win XP). However no users can access two Win XP machines
and all get a message that access is denied and we do not
have permission from that machine. Both those machines
can access and use all resources on the network. We have
checked for firewalls and they are disabled...one machine
has Nod 32 Anti Virus (as have most others on the
network) and one has Norton systemworks. Can anyone
assist? Thanks

This is a common problem with xp and 2000 professional
machines. It is also common when the 5th computer is added
to a Windows network.
Try setting a share for the complete drive on the 2000
machines. Make sure that you give a New share name and
add permissions for this share.
It is also common for 2000 to set the share off line
after 15 to 20 minutes of inactivity. This can be fixed
with mapping and the net use commands.
