networking problem

Up until recently my laptop with ME on it has worked without a problem. I
started it up today and I am getting cannot find server or DNS error. Like
I stated this has not been an issue. The computer is connected to the
Internet through a Wireless Access Point (Linksys WAP11) which is connected
to a Linsys router (BEFSR41). I tried installing a wired adapter and this
worked if the computer was directly connected to the cable modem. If I go
through the Linksys router I get the DNS error message. With the wired
adapter all of the lights on the router for that tap light up just like the
other two computers that are connected to the router (these are fully
functional by the way). If I connect the access point to the router only the
Link/Act lights up. Does anyone have any ideas to what might have started
this and a solution? Thank in Advance.

Thanks for the response. I have downloaded and installed (since the
problem) the latest firmware. This didn't help. I unplugged the WAP, but
maybe I didn't wait long enough. I will try that again. Thanks again and
if you or anyone else comes up with a solution I will be grateful.

While this may not help your problem, at my place of business we had a
wireless network for laptops. Until we updated the firmware in the WAPs we
had to unplug them from power about every 3 days. They kept locking up if
they were not actively transmitting data for a period of time. We never
really figured the exact interval of non-access which caused the lockup.

Simply unplug the power to the WAP, wait about 1 minute and plug back into
power. See if this solves your problem. If it does, check LinkSys web site
for a firmware upgrade for the WAP.
