Hi folks,
I am trying to setup a small home network between two computers.
*All* directories are shared on each comp, but when I hit the area
that says ' What is the address of this network place', and I hit
Browse, I can see the other computer (named 'john'), but no
directories. If I try to enter the address manually (\\john) it says
'windows requires a share to publish too'.
I have the entire HD on 'john' setup to share...Am I doing something
wrong?
Many thanks for any help!
Chris

PS: The comps are both fed intoa belkin route which is then fed into
a cable modem.\

You didn't say what operating systems the computers are running, but
here are some checkpoints:

1. Make sure all computers are in the same Workgroup.
2. Make sure all computers have unique computer names.
3. Create identical user accounts and passwords on all computers.
4. Share out desired resources and set permissions accordingly.

Sorry, I forgot....Win XP Home, SP2 on each..
1. Make sure all computers are in the same Workgroup.

Both are in MSHOME
2. Make sure all computers have unique computer names.

They do, one is Chris and the other is John

3. Create identical user accounts and passwords on all computers.

Do you mean when I logon to WinXP?
4. Share out desired resources and set permissions accordingly.

I have entire directories shared..
