Hello,

I have two computer running Windows XP Pro One computer has user name
and password turned on. The other computer simply boots into XP. I'm going
thru a netgear WGR614 router. Both computers have the Windows Firewall
turned off. Both computers are set to obtain IP and DNS server address
automatically. Both computers have file sharing and shared drives set up.
The computer that does not require a log in can see and receive files from
the other system. The problem is the system that requires me to log in only
shows me a icon that looks like a gray out piece of paper with the computer
names and shared volume names. Network places show both computers but all
icons simply cannot be selected. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I
might be doing wrong?

Thanks

Bob

You should manually assign IP numbers. XP can take an incredibly long time
to get it's networking act together otherwise.

The easiest answer - assuming you want easy - is to have GUEST account
turned on. Try that.
