I orignally was attempting to solve the 0x800c0005 "Windows Update" problem. In doing so I did a reinstall of windows XP home using the upgrade method. After doing this I have no internet or email connectivity

I have broadband and a network using a hardware router. This has been in operation for a few years now. Here are some items of interest

I can see all computers on the network from all other computer
I am able to use a shared resource (drives, printers) of the problem computer from all other computer
I can ping the problem computer by name and ip address from all other computer
I can ping 127.0.0.1 from the problem compute
The problem computer can not ping itself by name or ip addres
The problem computer is able to ping the other computers by name and ip addres
The problem computer can ping outside addresses like www.yahoo.co
I do not knowingly run any firewall (not sure if the reinstall of xp has activated the builtiin firewall
I run Norton antivirus 2002 and have all recent updates prior to losing connectivit

Please someone help

did your original WinXP Home include SP1?

If not, you will need to reinstall SP1.
